Its the third of four meetings. The two teams have a short turnaround from a back-and-forth game Wednesday night at the Xcel Energy Center that the Wild pulled out a 5-4 win. The teams have split their first two meetings, both in Minnesota.Minnesota is still without forwards Petr Sykora and Pierre-Marc Bouchard, as well as defenseman Brent Burns. All are sidelined with concussions. … Nashville center Dave Scatchard has missed the Preds’ last three games with an upper-body injury.
This is the fifth of 15 sets of back-to-backs on the Preds’ schedule and they seem to do better on the back end than on the front, going 2-3-0 in the openers and 3-1-0 on the back end.
The Predators were looking forward to this short two-game road trip if only for a change of pace. They had played eight of nine at home and were doing pretty well, winning seven of eight until the Calgary Flames came to town and did what they’ve been doing to home teams all year, handing them a 5-0 calling card. They followed the OT loss at Minnesota with a solid 4-1 win at Chicago.
