The memory of the beating they took last Saturday is vivid among the Leafs, who’ve beaten Atlanta and the New York Islanders at home since then while the Bruins were off.
”I’m glad we’re playing the Bruins again,” Leafs coach Ron Wilson said after Wednesday’s 3-2 win over the Islanders at the Air Canada Centre. ”We can’t play any worse than we did the last time.”Toronto has scored the first goal just eight times in its first 30 games. The Leafs are 6-0-2 when they score first but 4-13-5 when they surrender the first goal. … Before Marc Savard had a hat trick against the Leafs last Saturday, Boston’s last previous three-goal game belonged to Kessel, who scored three against the Islanders on April 12.
Kessel has 10 goals and 16 points in the 18 games he’s played with the Leafs. … Goaltender Tuukka Rask, who beat Toronto on Saturday, has been on a roll. He’s 5-0-1 in his last six starts, allowing only 10 goals, and is 8-2-2 for the season with a 1.97 goals-against average, second in the NHL.
