This is the third of six meetings between the “Original Six” rivals. Chicago won the first two games a 3-2 victory in Detroit on Oct. 8 and a 3-0 win on Sunday night at the United Center. Detroit will be seeking revenge in this one after failing to get any of its 20 shots past Cristobal Huet on Sunday. It won’t be easy given the Red Wings’ depleted lineup, as several of their key players are currently injured, including Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen.
Blackhawks forwards Adam Burish (torn ACL) and Dave Bolland (back) will not play Wednesday. Ben Eager (upper body) and Cam Barker (lower body) are day-to-day. … Red Wings who won’t be in the lineup Wednesday are: Valtteri Filppula (wrist), Jonathan Ericsson (knee), Henrik Zetterberg (shoulder), Daniel Cleary (shoulder), Niklas Kronwall (sprained MCL), Jason Williams (fractured fibula), Johan Franzen (torn ACL) and Andreas Lilja (post-concussion syndrome).
Chicago has scored only three times in its last 36 power-play opportunities, while Detroit went 0-for-2 on the power play on Sunday and is 4-for-53 (7.5 percent) in its last 15 games.
