The weather may prevent a lot of hockey outdoors in Florida, but inside the St. Pete Times Forum, the Bolts are raising hockey to an art form. Tampa Bay has just one regulation loss on home ice since Dec. 23. Niittymaki has been equally as strong at the Forum, going 10-3-3 with a 1.75 GAA there this season.Until recently the Bruins and Bolts were headed in opposite directions, but the B’s have slowed down their recent tumble in the standings with two straight wins. As they look for a third, they’ll face a stiff challenge against TampaBay, which is currently among the hottest teams in the League.
Boston’s David Krejci played Tuesday against the Sabres despite a nagging right leg injury and should be in the lineup once again. Johnny Boychuk, however, is out indefinitely with a broken orbital bone, while Mark Stuart is expected to miss three more weeks after surgery on his left pinky. TampaBay should be healthy for Thursday.
After being selected with the top pick a season ago, Stamkos was expected to be a top tier scorer, but no one expected it to happen this quickly. The center is likely to hit 40 goals in his sophomore campaign and has an outside shot at 50. He has been particularly potent during his current career-high 10-game point streak, tallying 8 goals and 8 assists in that stretch. In Boston, Zdeno Chara and Marco Sturm have combined for six points in the last three games. Goal’s highlights, results and more will be on site, as soon as posible.
