League: NHL – United States of America
Last 10 matches: Anaheim 4-3-3; Detroit 4-5-1
Can the Red Wings find any traction this season? It seems like every time they take a step forward, they follow with two steps back.
Can the Ducks rally? They snapped a five-game losing streak by rallying from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Stars in overtime, 4-3, on Tuesday. Still, they’re 15th in the Western Conference and seven points out of a playoff spot. This is the second of four meetings between the teams this season. Detroit won the first meeting, Nov. 14 at Joe Louis Arena, 7-4. The Wings led 2-1 going into a wild third period that saw the teams combine for eight goals, including three by Henrik Zetterberg. He also had 2 assists for a 5-point game. Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and 3 assists for the Ducks.
Corey Perry’s 19-game point streak might be over, but the Ducks forward hasn’t stopped scoring he has a goal and 3 points in four games since his streak ended. Teammate Ryan Getzlaf has 8 assists and 11 points in his last 10 games.
Zetterberg, who leads the team in scoring with 30 points in 30 games, has 6 points in his last six games.
Cleary’s four-week absence makes him the sixth key member of the Red Wings to be lost for at least another month. He joins defensemen Andreas Lilja (concussion) and Niklas Kronwall (sprained knee), plus forwards Johan Franzen (knee), Valtteri Filppula (wrist) and Jason Williams (leg).
The Ducks will continue to be without Selanne for 4-6 weeks following surgery to repair a broken hand. We will post live score and results of this match, as soon as posible.
